FAQ Material Changeover
Due to a new EU regulation for food contact materials, SUPERGLAS will be manufactured in the EU using a new material in the future. From June 2026, we will be switching to Tritan - a modern, high-performance plastic with recycled content that offers the same performance and appearance.
What does the change mean in concrete terms?
The revised regulation defines new limit values and testing methods for materials that come into contact with food. As a result, the material used previously may no longer be placed on the market.
Important deadlines:
- No new placing on the market from 20 July 2026
- No sale of existing stocks already on the market from January 20, 2029
SUPERGLAS products that have already been purchased can be used indefinitely.
What material is SUPERGLAS currently made of?
SUPERGLAS has been manufactured from polycarbonate (PC) since its inception. SUPERGLAS's unique feature is an additional material treatment that makes the glass particularly robust, durable, and high-quality.
Are existing SUPERGLAS products EU-compliant?
Yes, all SUPERGLASSES produced to date – including those manufactured up to July 19, 2026 – are fully compliant with EU regulations . They can therefore continue to be used without restriction, theoretically until the end of their lifespan.
What is Tritan?
Tritan is a new generation of transparent, high-performance plastics with compelling properties:
- crystal clear
- very robust and shatterproof
- BPA and bisphenol free
- same performance as before
What is koziol doing now?
SUPERGLAS will remain available in the existing material for markets outside the EU.
In the EU, we will introduce SUPERGLAS made from Tritan from June 1, 2026 .
SUPERGLAS made from Tritan will be delivered from the end of July 2026 .
What does that mean if I want to buy new glasses?
Nothing is changing at the moment. The existing SUPERGLAS collection can still be ordered and will remain permanently compliant with EU regulations. From June 1, 2026, you will also have the option of switching to SUPERGLAS made from Tritan.
Our recommendation: If you are planning for the upcoming season, it makes sense to secure SUPERGLAS now at the current price.
How does the price change?
SUPERGLAS made from Tritan will cost approximately €1 more per glass. This is due to significantly higher raw material prices.
Does the new SUPERGLAS look different?
No, guests will not notice any difference. The following features also remain the same:
- Dishwasher safe
- surface
- high weight
- transparency
Both materials can easily be used in parallel.
What does this mean for my current glass inventory?
Your existing SUPERGLAS can continue to be used indefinitely.
I use SUPERGLAS outside the EU - what applies to me?
If your country of assignment is not subject to EU regulations, you still have the choice:
- SUPERGLAS in the previous material
- SUPERGLAS made of Tritan
Both versions are offered simultaneously. Please note that SUPERGLAS made from Tritan will be more expensive.
Are there any new colors?
Yes, starting June 1, 2026, SUPERGLAS will also be available in the new color luxury light grey. All existing colors will remain available.
Even more colors will be added for France. In addition to Luxury Light Grey, the range will also be available in crystal clear, transparent anthracite, as well as in our very successful trend colors transparent jade, transparent rose quartz, and transparent aquamarine.
